How will you keep the bathrooms clean?
Our custodial staff will use hospital-grade disinfectant cleaning products to clean and disinfect all bathroom fixtures and surfaces.
Due to the pandemic, we are increasing the frequency of disinfection cleaning.
How will students use the large shared bathrooms and stay safe?
Beyond hospital disinfectant and more frequent cleanings, plexiglass has been installed to partition the sinks in the community bathrooms to limit exposure between residents. Soap dispensers have also been added to each sink.
Will the elevators be restricted to one person at a time?
Elevators are contained spaces and you should always wear a face covering when you use one. We may impose limits on the number of passengers. Individuals with accessibility concerns will be given priority to use the elevators. Residents assigned to lower numbered floors in high-rise buildings will be encouraged to use the stairways. More specific information will be available before we open.
Can COVID travel through the ventilation system in my residence hall?
IU is committed to minimizing COVID-19 risk for building users by regularly inspecting air handling units, replacing filters, and ensuring air handlers are functioning as designed. IU will also continue to monitor and react to federal, state, public health, and industry standard heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) guidelines to manage and mitigate risk.
In addition, concerns may be addressed in the Return to Campus Guide, page 14.
