These buildings are not air-conditioned and have operable windows. They utilize radiant heat, when the outdoor air temperature is below 62 degrees.
If you have a medical need for an air conditioner, you need to request the Medical Verification Form and then complete it with your physician. Medical Verification Forms should be returned to our offices or your center desk by Friday, September 11.
If your request is approved, we will email you a confirmation. RPS will provide a window air conditioning unit that meets the necessary specifications upon confirmation of your request. A non-refundable $400 fee for installation, maintenance, removal, and its additional electrical usage will be charged to the bursar account of the student who requests installation. This will be billed at a rate of $200 each semester, fall and spring. We are unable to split the fee between roommates. AC units are provided by RPS and will be inspected up to twice monthly.
If an AC unit is installed in your room at the time of move-in, you will still need to submit a Medical Verification Form. Installed AC units will be removed the week of September 14 if no medical need has been documented.
