Students applying to join a learning community will have their housing assignments considered based on their selection and acceptance.
You can apply for a living-learning center or thematic community on your housing application. To increase your chances of being placed in your preferred learning community, it's recommended that you complete your application by the priority deadline.
We will use your preference selection to ensure you are not given an assignment that is outside of your price range. Review our rates and billing page to understand the differences between room types.
If you choose to live with someone you know, you'll be able to request a roommate when you fill out your housing application on One.IU. We recommend reaching out to that person and confirming that you would like to live together since roommate requests must be mutual.
Make sure that you have your requested roommate's full name and IU username on hand before starting the housing application.
The roommate selection page for incoming freshman is found at the end of the application after checking out as this is not required.
Note: We recommend roommates make the same housing preference selections to avoid any issues with the assignment process.
IU Housing strives to welcome all incoming students to on campus living, including those whose daily lives are affected by a medical need. It is important to communicate early and thoroughly with us to ensure your needs can be met most effectively. Your required accommodations can have an impact on your housing assignment.
The deadline to complete the Medical Verification Form is May 1, 2025 for fall. Forms received after the deadline may not be reviewed or may result in delay of accommodations. Learn more about our process.
