Laundry

Wash it

All laundry in the residence halls at IU is done using your CrimsonCard. When you are ready to do laundry, bring your CrimsonCard with you and swipe your card at the washing machine or dryer, just like you would at campus vending machines. Laundry costs are included in your room rate.

Swiping your CrimsonCard is the only way to start your laundry.

Helpful laundry tips:

  • Read the posted instructions before using the washers.
  • Measure your detergent! Don't put in too much.
  • Do NOT overfill the machines. This can prevent your laundry from getting clean and cause damage to your clothes and the machine. Clothes need room to swim in the wash and float to dry.
  • Swipe your CrimsonCard card to pay for your load of laundry. The machines do not accept credit cards.
  • Be sure to remove your laundry from each machine in a timely manner.

Problems?

If you run into an issue with your laundry, please submit a maintenance request (be sure to note the location and machine number in your description of the issue). If it's an emergency, call your center desk immediately.

How to use Laundry Alert

You do not need an app to do laundry in the residence halls. If you want to check machine availability or receive notifications of when your laundry is done, use the Laundry Alert app on One.IU.

Select a location and building (ex: Ashton, Hershey) to view which washers and dryers are available or in use. When your machine is in use, select the bell symbol next to it to activate notifications for your laundry.

Log in with your IU credentials to save your favorite locations and set up washer and dryer notifications.
