Building access basics

Access to residential floors is limited to assigned residents and their escorted guests.

The exterior doors of our residential buildings are locked daily between the hours of 9 p.m.–6 a.m. Building residents may use their CrimsonCard to gain entry during this time.

The center desks are open when classes are in session during the hours of:

  • Monday–Friday: 8 a.m.–10 p.m.
  • Saturday–Sunday: 10 a.m.–10 p.m.

During university break periods the offices are closed. Summer term hours will be announced just prior to the beginning of that term.

Resident assistants or housing assistants, graduate supervisors, and full-time staff members reside in the buildings. A staff member is on-call 24/7 and may be reached through the office phone number.

Guests in residence halls

Guests are welcome in residence halls and apartments but must always be with their host and carry a valid photo ID. Residents can have overnight guests (up to two guests per resident), but guests can't stay more than three consecutive days. Please note that overnight stays may not be allowed during breaks or at the discretion of Residence Life. And remember—if you're visiting a room or unit that’s not yours, you’ll need to be escorted by someone who lives there.

Residents are responsible for the behavior and actions of their guest. Read our policies clarifying responsibility, roommate/suitemate permissions, and overnight guest registration.
